I'm going to be chewing on each of these stanzas for a while, but the lines that jumped out upon my first reading and that I loved where:

"Time holds everything

except the concept

we shackle to it"

I’ll be looking forward to the Reflection on this one, Brian.

Me too! Sometimes the reflection feels intimidating...it does for this one. I feel like I don't know half of what it's saying yet!

Brian, I hear you saying Time is not our enemy. The images you draw of Time resonate with me. Time as: a silken web holding us, a moving shelter that adjusts its pace "to make a home for us", a waiter bearing delicious food, and an organism--creative and very much alive! Time is gentle, and gracious, and living. Beautiful poem🌿

Wow, each stanza hits with a punch of reality, Brian.

Did you also write this one from the plane?

I think my favourite line is this one (below) because it is so powerfully true:

Time holds everything

except the concept

we shackle to it

I wrote 3-4 of the stanzas from a plane, then expanded and edited over a week or so.

I do like that line. So often we make time an enemy for whatever reason, and I like the way this line calls that out with a lot of openness for whatever the concept the reader has tied to time.

Thanks for reading!

I'm really in love with these two stanzas towards the end... but obviously I got that far because the whole poem is wonderful!

Time holds everything

except the concept

we shackle to it

defies every limit

we blame it for

and speeds and slows

to make a home for us.

Time offers delicacy

a waiter with a silver platter

olives and fruit

cheese and desert

brought right to our appetite.

Yes! The food brought right to your appetite, such a surprising use of language. Love that.
