Wow, yeah, so beautiful. I love the way this picks up and essentially takes flight itself by the end, with the change in structure and cadence. I'm sensing a seasonal shift in outlook here, too.

"and wide set fire kiln eyes," <hands down my favourite line, and I can almost imagine you knew I'd pick this one.

Hehe, yes, this was a close second ;)

It's all fantastic. I look forward to the breakdown on this one.

Me too, but I wish you would write it for me…😁

Reading this feels like watching a bird "Flutter, flitter, float, fly." I love seeing your poems in my inbox. I know it's going to make my day better!

Thanks Jason. I appreciate you reading!

“The bright orange knife of a beak” reminds me of a seed I ran into while eating a tangerine

That’s not usually a good thing 😂

Lovely, Brian — this has such a beautiful flow to it. I felt like I was gliding while reading.

Thank you, glad it felt that way! Sometimes I want to read this one with an “are you kidding me, wake up” voice…but chose the floaty one for today.

Great work, Brian. What struck me is how you zoom out and in again. At least that's what it feels like to me. Or maybe it's the other way around, you zoom in and out again. Like we are all beautiful birds with our own peculiarities. If we only look close enough and appreciate what makes us unique and what makes us the same.

You got it! Embracing variety is beautiful but seems like such a chore these days, especially when it comes to belief systems…

Thanks, and thanks for restacking it! I’m glad you enjoyed.

I love every bit of this, but especially the intrusion of “Crows caw with wisdom / no one wants to hear.”

Thanks Jonathan. That’s one of favorite lines in this piece too!
