A day for the front porch
It’s a glorious day after all, to rest together and explore what fills this space between us. Conversation is a funny thing, thoughts expressed through noise from me to you to me developing pictures in the darkroom of our mind. This invisible open air connecting us through sense doors, the warmth of the sun radiating from the porch siding, the sweet scent of lilacs carried by the final cool breeze of early summer. How is it? Can you tell me how we share these fleeting images and how they are melded by a dancing whirlpool that pulls us to depths as one? Even the bird song has its point of view, the redbud seeming to explain how life is intertwined and beauty is visible only when set on context surrounding it. There may be a natural explanation to this mystical exchange but let’s not delve into that. Let’s relish the vibrant place we have stumbled into, and live from this moment into all other moments, knowing this is as real as your hand in mine.
Thank you for reading! If you are so inclined, leave a comment about what strikes you, speaks to you, or stirs in you while you read. I look forward to whatever dialogue may happen here, and in just a few days I will be following this poem up with a reflection on how this poem emerged into being.

This is a gorgeous poem, and I absolutely love this stanza:
There may be
a natural explanation
to this mystical exchange
but let’s not delve into that.
Let’s relish the vibrant place
we have stumbled into,
and live from this moment
into all other moments,
knowing this is as
real as your hand
in mine.
Stunningly beautiful!
